New table-top book display – Green Shoots: horticultural treasures from our natural history collection, unearthed by our gardeners

‘Nasturtium’. Illustration by James Sowerby in ‘Curtis’ botanical magazine’, (1790).
Visit our the Outer Library between 1 May and 7 June to see beautiful books about botany and gardening, chosen for display by our Green Shoots gardening group.
Free and open to all.
Our Green Shoots gardening team look after the courtyard garden at the rear of the DEI, as well as running gardening workshops for adults and children. Earlier this year, they spent some time with books about gardening and botany from our heritage collections, choosing the books for this display and sharing their thoughts about them, and how they relate to the work they are doing in the garden. The display promises to be a real showcase of the beautiful botanical illustrations from the DEI library.
