Wednesday Tours of the Institution
Free and open to all
1pm – 4pm weekly
Please sign up on the day / 5 places per tour
Due to government guidelines we will need to take contact details for each individual participating.
Meet outside the Institution at 7 Cathedral Close.
Face coverings must be worn inside the building.
The group size will be restricted to five people per guide and we will maintain social distancing and throughout the tour.

Cooking the Books – edible flowers

A sweet garden workshop where we will be inspired by the flowers of the collection to create beautiful sugar craft flowers. For children aged 5+

Did you know that the Victorians were obsessed with ferns? Join us for this fern lettering workshop, inspired by some decorative fonts from the 19th century.

Beside the Seaside – creative workshop
Children and a grownup / free and open to all / 8 places per workshop / Booking essential

This ‘Seaside’ themed workshop for children aged 5-10 and an adult of their choosing. Get creative together!

High Tea at the Institution*
The Courtenay Room 2pm- 4pm
Join Charlotte in the Courtenay Room for High Tea/ Booking essential / £25 for two £15 for one / pay by card or cash on the day. Please note your preference on webcollect / 12 places available / all food home made.
Lighter options now available:
2 x Scones with cream and jam, served with a pot of tea or coffee – £6.00pp
Slice of delicious cake, served with a pot of tea or coffee – £4.00pp

2 Cheese and rosemary scones
2 Sundried tomato and basil scones
Homemade chutney and Cheddar cheese.

6 finger sandwiches

Saturday 28th August
Creative writing – imaginary worlds
Older children’s workshop / free and open to all / 5 places per workshop / Booking essential
10.30am-12noon
Join us for this creative writing workshop, where we will be looking at some examples of fantasy worlds from literature, before having a go at writing some descriptions ourselves! Suitable for ages 7-12.
We will be observing enhanced hygiene procedures and maintaining social distancing.
Children under 11 are exempt from wearing a mask. Masks must be worm by those over 11, unless the event is taking place out of doors.
Indoor events will take place upstairs in the Upper Reading Room and windows will be kept open.
To ensure we are maintaining safe social distancing and number limits for events, we ask parent/carers to register their children and move to the parent/carer seating area in the Courtenay Room.
We are Covid-secure venue and will retain your details for test and trace for 21 days.
