Adopt a book for Christmas
Looking for an unusual Christmas present for your loved ones this year? Our Adopt a Book gift package is the perfect choice.
With our Christmas gift package you can enjoy a unique experience in our historic library and contribute towards preserving our collections for future generations. Adopt a special book for a friend or loved one, and treat them to a private tour of the Institution followed by hot drinks and mince pies in the Courtenay Room.
“Everything went perfectly and we were both really impressed with how smoothly our visit went and the attention to detail paid by your team to give us a wonderful experience.”
Whether you choose a book by a favourite author or on a subject of interest, or a print or drawing (for example of a special place), it is your gift to give. You can search our collections of books and prints and drawings online. If you cannot find what you are looking for please email us and will be happy to help you find something to suit that special someone. If your choice of book or drawing has already been adopted we will suggest another option.
What your gift package includes
Adoptions are made once and for always. Your loved one receives a personalised bookplate in their adopted book and an adoption certificate, and their name is entered in our Benefactors Book. In addition to this, they will be able to view their adopted book in our library, and to enjoy a private tour for two of the Institution. The experience will be rounded off with either hot drinks and mince pies or cream tea in the Courtenay Room. Arrange your adoption tour before Christmas as a festive treat, or delay until January to celebrate the New Year.
The cost of this gift package is £45. In addition to the experience on the day, recipients are invited to our annual Adopt a Book event where they will be able to learn more about the ways in which your donation is used to preserve our collections.
